NOT ALL METAL, plastic wheel

I bought this because I needed an easier way to unwind and rewind the cables after I was done. I did it by hand and with a Velcro strap. It worked fine, but when you take it out to use it tends to get tangled. Pros: It's fairly easy to rewind the cord when your feet or hand presses on the stand. Easy to carry. Grip, depending on how the cables are handled, it stays in place. Cons: - This is partly my fault. The description says "metal" and since it was twice the price of other line spools I didn't look closely. It's NOT all metal. Only part of the stand, the rest is plastic - the notch for holding the cord is too loose/big, it doesn't hold my cord in place when fully unwound. This was done for 14/3, I have 12/3. - Clips missing, photos show there are small side clips, mine weren't there. - Less convenient than other standless cord reels. It's not as mobile as the others and it's not more stable. Overall: It works ok, but it's no better or better than handheld cable spools. It's bigger, takes up more space, has more storage, and doesn't feel any more durable than manual ones. If you really don't need a base I would use one of the manual spools instead.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • So far so good
