I bought this because I needed an easier way to unwind and rewind the cables after I was done. I did it by hand and with a Velcro strap. Totally dissatisfied with this reel. Getting in and out is as annoying as it gets. I use this for my electric mower so I unroll and rewrap it every week. There are two hooks in the center of the reel that should grab and hold the line from both sides for you to reel it in. They looked flimsy so I used zip ties as well. They broke off in the 2nd week.
