Plastic but sturdy - Good price

Mine arrived and required minimal assembly. The spool itself is plastic, but it doesn't look like it's going to break anytime soon. I quickly coiled up 100 feet of outdoor extension cords. There are better steel spools, but they are also more expensive. As long as you place your foot or hand on the base of this roller, it will remain stationary while rolling. If you can't or don't want to, avoid this reel and opt for a steel reel. Some buyers write that they don't like the wrap design, but…

I have two orange spools of cable, these are .

I have two orange cable spools, this one is metal so I decided to give it a try. The cable hooks are not well constructed and the cable, zip ties, rope and twists keep slipping off. In the end I made a through hole on the side and securely fastened the middle part of the cable (if you haven't seen it in other reviews, find the middle of your cable, attach it to the spool and spool and allow access to either end... the spool is smaller and less stiff than my two "orange spools" but seems to get…

NOT ALL METAL, plastic wheel

I bought this because I needed an easier way to unwind and rewind the cables after I was done. I did it by hand and with a Velcro strap. It worked fine, but when you take it out to use it tends to get tangled. Pros: It's fairly easy to rewind the cord when your feet or hand presses on the stand. Easy to carry. Grip, depending on how the cables are handled, it stays in place. Cons: - This is partly my fault. The description says "metal" and since it was twice the price of other line spools I…

Garbage collection, suitable for occasional use ONLY

Totally dissatisfied with this reel. Getting in and out is as annoying as it gets. I use this for my electric mower so I unroll and rewrap it every week. There are two hooks in the center of the reel that should grab and hold the line from both sides for you to reel it in. They looked flimsy so I used zip ties as well. They broke off in the 2nd week. No big deal just thought they would last at least a few months but damn it 2 weeks? It's garbage. What I really dislike about this reel is the…

Not primarily metal - cable spools

My previous cable spool was the ubiquitous orange plastic. My K-100 is molded from plastic. The handle on him broke as he fell about four feet to the concrete floor. I was looking for something nicer. As many reviewers point out, the tube on the stand for this product is metal (presumably stiff and strong enough for a simple task), but the spool, cable clips, and turning knob are all plastic. . While the plastic seems up to the task, by direct comparison the spool side plastic feels a bit more…
