My cat has always been obedient and calm. Until I bought a new sofa. It's a tweed-like fabric, so the corners of the arms looked like they were begging to be scratched. It's not his fault he's scratching (it's his nature, like a cat), so I had to find a way to protect the corners of my couch and not hurt him either. I tried sticking on cat claws but he seemed so unhappy that I stopped using them. However, this "Scratch Protection" article seemed promising. I ordered two (so I get four guards) and found them very easy to put on. They're barely noticeable at all, and he completely stopped scratching the sofa (in any form). I can't comment on how well this works on other cats, especially the ones that scratch the whole couch, but for my obedient boy who focused on the corners, it was a win!
