Great for raising an old office chair
I am using this on an old office chair that has its lift mechanism completely destroyed. It prevents the inner metal shaft from slipping through the hole in the base. It's not the prettiest solution, but it's cheaper than buying a new chair or a new lift. The downside, of course, is that it's not very convenient to adjust the height, but the fixed height suits me.

- Easy to install where otherwise major disassembly would be required
