I don't know what happened to quality in the compact camera segment, but the trend is very frustrating for me. I have a digital "soap box" Sony DSC-S60 2022 release better shoots! In the Nikon Coolpix S7000, the aggressive and at the same time non-switchable noise reduction spoils the already not outstanding image quality. The quality of the recorded video in general is some kind of misunderstanding - graininess, terrible noises and excessive noise reduction work. As a result, the picture is flat, the colors are distorted. I couldn't believe my eyes. I have only one reasonable explanation for this. The compact digital camera segment is shrinking from year to year, due to stiff competition from smartphones and their very good entry-level cameras. Under these conditions, the few remaining manufacturers are purposefully “killing” this segment in order to force conservative amateur photographers who do not want to shoot with a smartphone and at the same time get quality, to purchase much more expensive compact cameras - mirrorless and compact with a large sensor. That's just their price for the most part is comparable to SLR cameras!
