I needed a bigger trash can for my car and decided to give it a try. Mine is hanging on the passenger seat headrest. You get 10 replacement bags with the bin, and yes, you CAN use regular store-bought plastic bags as replacements. The only issue I've encountered is that air getting in through my windows can potentially cause debris to fly out (although this hasn't happened yet - just rustling paper). The XL version of this basket comes with a lid, I wish it was the same. I'm going to cut out a piece of cardboard to put on top of the trash (mine is almost 100% paper) so things don't fly. This problem is not enough for me to deduct stars at the moment. Other than that one issue, I LOVE this trash can! I especially love the foresight of the designer when attaching the clips that attach to the interchangeable inner bag! In my use they hold up very well and the bag hasn't moved since installation. The straps appear to be sewn very well and I look forward to using them for many years to come.
