For reasons I won't elaborate on, it's become important to me to keep the voices of my family and friends, as well as their photos. With the headphone jack gone, I was forced to play messages through the speaker and record with the mic. The sound quality was terrible. Then I found out that there are cables that I can use to record directly. After careful research I bought this cable. When I first used it I noticed that the Lightning connector didn't seem to fit the phone all the way, but after some wiggling it finally connected fully and I was able to get some good shots. However, when I tried to use it the second time, I couldn't get anything other than a static string. The problem was definitely that the Lightning connector didn't have a solid connection. I checked the phone jack for dust/lint but it was clean. The charging cable was also connected properly. Frustrated, I bought a second cable from a big store so I could easily return it if it didn't work either (assuming a phone jack). The cable from the big store worked perfectly. Time passed and then one day I was downstairs and carefully examining two cables side by side and I noticed that the 'sleeve' of this cable is the part of the glowing plug that you hold onto when you unplug the plug pushed back and forth into your phone so that when you inserted the connector into the phone, the sleeve slipped forward 1/32" or 1/16" just enough to prevent the connector from being fully inserted. And of course, when removing the cable, the sleeve slipped back, hiding the fact that it interferes with plug insertion. One day I realized I had used a small dab of glue to secure the case in place. Since then the cable has worked great. I like the flexibility of this cable. The big box cable I bought is tough. Aside from the fact that the lightning connector on this cable needs debugging and repairing, a simple solution for me but too complex for many, and the fact that the buyer does NOT need to do any troubleshooting or repairing to get the new item working. , it's a thin cable. It works.
