Such a great idea, if it breaks, it's worth fixing to fix

Kamenstein Perfect Tear Wall Mounted Paper Towel Holder, Black First of all, this is by far the best paper towel holder I have ever had. or used. It might not seem like a big deal at first, but for those who need a paper towel for something quick and with one hand, you know how most holders can let you down. Freestanding countertops just tip over or, worse, fly away, scattering a streak of paper towels all over the room. Each installed "TP Style Bathroom" does not keep the roll stable, and after spinning freely, the paper towel mountain may fall on the counter. Then there is friction. Most of them have such a stranglehold on the reel that you're lucky if you rip off more than the corner of the sheet. Often only a thumb-sized rag comes back. In general, there are many poorly designed mounts and some really ugly ones. Now for this fantastic ratchet holder. Installation was easy as expected. The included cheap plastic anchors are useless. If you can't conveniently screw it into a stud or other wooden frame, then opt for the much better drywall anchors. I personally think a set of inexpensive anchors is a must have in the house for this very reason. When placing, make sure you have enough room for the largest paper towel rolls you typically use. I love the Bounty Select a Size Huge Rolls and they are huge. In my photos you can see the difference between giant buns and regular buns. You can also see that I gave the huge roles enough slack and no more. I want it to be as far away and as discreet as possible. Durable chrome spring wires. Once installed, the reel itself is held securely in place by spring wires. Some force is required to turn the reel on and off. Not enough to bend or squeeze, but you have to make an effort. If you use a fashion brand with a smaller or larger center diameter, this probably won't work for you. These spring bars are quite strong and will most likely damage a smaller than standard diameter reel. This resistance is enough to prevent the reel from turning by itself. Not so much that it was impossible to pull out and pull out a few sheets. And then, with a final sharp tug, the exact amount is torn off right down the roll closest to the perforation, and you have the perfect amount of unshredded paper towel. So easy. There's a pretty nice click when the reel turns out, which I like. Some might find this annoying. At first the dog looked at it funny, but has since decided to ignore it. quality control. This is where we may have a problem. There are many reviews here that talk about the ratchet failure. Added to this is the possibility of slightly different ratchet designs between different surfaces. If that's true, that's not good for Kamenstein's engineers. It's also possible that some saw old (failed) models mixed with new (improved) models. Without the participation of a Kamenstein representative, it is difficult to say. However, this holder is worth fixing if needed, and several reviewers have provided some tips and photos to help those who want to try it. Even if I didn't bother for that $10-$15 (which I will if I have to), if I can get a year or two of it, I'll be happy. And the last. soap dish, and what's wrong with fixing things when they break? We used to do this all the time, but lately we've gotten to the attitude that everything should either last forever or be thrown away if it breaks. I really enjoy fixing things and I can often improve them. I promise that if mine breaks down I'll make a video and post how to fix it. I think the idea is so good that it's worth the effort.
