I bought 5 iPad holders to compare as a musician: The Gig Easy, The Caddy Buddie, The Neewer, Talent iClaw/iMS and Jam Stand Ultimate, which are discussed here. The criteria are exactly what you would expect: tough enough to withstand accidental drops and bumps in a gig bag, compact enough to fit in a gig bag, and capable of 3-axis rotation. This Neewer device really impressed. It features a 3-axis joint, is made of metal and aluminum, and disassembles easily for easy and safe storage in any gig bag. It appears to be practically indestructible. It would be on my wish list for the extension that comes out of the mic stand to be about an inch longer. The only downside to consider is that there is no lateral support. So when moving to a horizontal position, you need to make sure your device is secure (which is achievable). Since I use my iPad in the vertical position, this works very well for me. Highly recommend and a steal at this price!
