Please read this. You need a better picture of mold and how it can affect your health

******* Readers beware. I have not used the product yet. But I have something to say that will be helpful. I have thoroughly researched this product, including speaking to one of their environmental specialists at corporate headquarters in Canada. This is a great product, especially in its price range. The name Concrobium keeps popping up in my conversations with different people. Below --- I'm presenting a fairly lengthy narrative, but please be patient as you will find useful information with some out-of-the-box thinking. We live in the southeastern United States; Humidity is high and I agree on one fact: 98% of all underground spaces are not adequately protected with barriers and desiccants. People just don't think they need them. Well, those same people can walk around their homes every day and get sick from prolonged exposure to low levels of mold in their home, originating from the subsurface and mold-infested air vents closest to the street (in our case). housing) air manipulator. For the past twenty years, our annual termite check has consistently reported small patches of mold on the subfloor joists. I had almost a dozen other companies to inspect the underground, including a home inspector. Everyone, I repeat EVERYTHING, came back with the conclusion "it's okay". But everyone expressed concern about the (summer) ambient humidity of 88% and the wood moisture content of 28%. All were fairly stable in terms of ambient humidity and wood moisture content of less than 60% and 20% respectively. Mold will grow above these numbers. Beginning in 2012 (about four years ago) I developed a sinus disorder that steadily got worse. In the past year, the symptoms have worsened significantly; constant discharge from the sinuses up to nausea and vomiting several times a day. My appetite diminished as all the food smells made me feel nauseous. In the last four months my wife has also had sinus problems due to the intense pressure on her upper molars. The problems with this go away when she walks the dog and return when she re-enters the house. Her dentist said sinus problems were causing pain. I took a huge amount of antihistamines and my wife started taking them too. For me, the pills barely contained the symptoms and my energy levels continued to drop. Recently, I saw an advertisement on TV saying that at least some of the fresh air coming into the house could be coming from underground. Well - I admit that I'm not the trickiest nail in the box. But if you looked closely you would have seen the lightbulb come on. A little research on Google and more phone calls prompted me to make an appointment for an air quality check. The test isn't cheap at all, but it takes a "baseline" of outside air and then does the same for inside air. For $270, the test told us we had elevated (higher than outside) Aspergillus/Penicillium levels. Symptoms include: allergic reactions, irritation of the mucous membranes, headache, vomiting and diarrhea. I just copied this detail from our report for you to read. However, the values were 60% below the value considered a threat (900). Many of you may think that our results do not indicate a real problem. But I want you to think about something: high numbers (900) can evoke a quick reaction. But couldn't smaller numbers represent the same symptoms over a longer period of time (years)? This is an important question for readers to ponder. like that . Anyway, I threw away my cheap wallet and did the following: clear out the subsoil, install the electrics, repair the suspension and duct insulation, mount the earth fence (DO NOT seal it), mount the dehumidifier and set it to 50%. . The results were dramatic. With the dryer (we installed a Frigidaire FFAD7033R1, suitable for 1175 square feet) set to continuous (no bucket emptying) and at 50%, we achieved acceptable stability in about four hours. The next day? My symptoms have decreased by 70%! I went three more days with significantly reduced symptoms and no antihistamines. My wife's symptoms also disappeared. On Day 4 (after installation) I had to do a series of short trips into "space" to fix drainage/gravity issues. About fifteen minutes later, my symptoms returned with a vengeance. I was lucky enough to get off the subway before I threw up. For the rest of the day, my old symptoms returned. The next day? I'm fine again No pills and no pain. But - an annoying reminder: OK, symptoms were under control, but how did this thing get into the house in the first place? Good question. I use Merv 11 allergy filters (90% allergy free) but am still sick. So I walked around the house and checked the magazines one by one for mold. Since I had them removed, I manually cleaned the registers and "in" the channel space; due diligence BUT - I found two registers that were "covered" with black mold spores. Given their location in the main system, they are located directly below my office and closest to the main air handling unit from the outside. **** It is important. Mold grows where there is "air mixing". hot and cold. cold and hot. This is the main shape area. This is an ongoing work; I will provide updates as they become available. We have our annual HVAC inspection and I will have a technician (he has been trained) do a proper inspection of the coil, air handler and nearby mains. I expect to find "junk/shit" to clean up; Things that sloppy techs don't do, but also work with techs to identify troublesome things. OK. blah blah As for me, I can take it to an easy next level. I have a 1 gallon pump sprayer. We still have an active form that makes pros "shrug their shoulders". But I think I can prove that we are susceptible to mold. So, aside from the HVAC work, I'm going to crawl underground (all nice and clean) with a gallon of Concrobium and my atomizer set to "fine mist" and hit all the joists. I will not wipe, just spray. My research shows that this product is water soluble and emits no fumes. Killing **** mold not only does not kill spores *** but encapsulates the mold colony and adjacent surfaces of new mold. This product will NOT give a fresh, kitchen-clean appearance to the finished surface. It is designed to eliminate mold problems. I am not a seller or otherwise paid member here. But I've read this stuff and I think most people in Southeast Asia should seriously consider whether you have room to crawl and whether you have any ongoing health issues that might be related to long-term exposure to mold. I know if there is no medical research issue for this. As soon as we have the HVAC results I'll let you know. In the meantime, purchase this material, put it in a good quality high-pressure sprayer, crawl into your "bottom pan" and spray onto the mold. I bet you'll see black streaks with yellowish-brown "grains" across them. If it smears with your thumb, you have mold. :-) Best ---====================================== === = =================== 09/28/2016. Have used the product. Here's a hint. I really needed a way to efficiently feed Concrobium into my AC without burning out the fan motor (humidity). Guess what? Home Depot rents an atomizer for $18; good for four hours. For the sewer system, I estimate that 2/3 gallons (discussed with Concrobium HQ) will be enough to treat the sewer and main sewer system. *Note: 15 minutes was enough to empty the tank. But I'm pretty sure Concrobium is now covering my fan motor blades, fan housing, coil and at least the first ten feet of the main duct, which was a big concern for me. My [severe] sinus symptoms continued to disappear. I took an antihistamine (1/2 dose) only twice in a fortnight while taking 1/2 to 1 dose daily for three years with little or no effect. I might do another air quality test in another month (indoors only) but as we head into October with lower humidity I don't think the results will be the same. I went underground and looked at the mold I sprayed (pump sprayer). There's a thin white layer of something on the bars. Black spots (there are many) were blurred. Mold spores are yellowish-brown in color (look like grains of sand sticking out of wood). They were dropped from the dead figure's body onto a sheet of black plastic. I think I'll take the vacuum and collect them for recycling. This process can (easily) cost several thousand dollars or more. But after a lot of research and thought, I got top-notch results for $2,320. Here's a breakdown of the numbers: 1). Check indoor air quality for mold. Cost $270.00. 2). Subsoil "dig", remove debris and previous owner's plastic sheeting, repair existing suspended insulation (no new insulation installed), repair suspended insulation from ducts, close all foundation vents (11) and install 6-million plastic. Overlap up to 6 inches. Cost: $1366.00 3). Independent air sensor (wireless) with desktop display. The cost is $20.00. four). Installation of electrical appliances for lighting and connection of a dehumidifier. Cost $342.00. 5). air dryer; Model Frigidaire 70pt. FFAD7033R1. Cost including 2 year insurance = $250.00. 6). Other: $20.00 7). Concrobium (1 gallon) + fog rental, Home Depot (4 hours). $52.00 My wife's and my sinus problems have improved significantly. as in immediately (within 24 hours). I spoke to a local HVAC owner and he followed the same pattern and got the same results within 24 hours. I didn't like everything. EVERYONE . local providers of the process of combining or packaging the services described above. A --- Contact pest control companies for the best rates on moisture control services - NOT underground repairs. But either way, you're not going to get a good deal from anyone trying to package services for you. They will try to get dollar for dollar by only subcontracting for you. Skip the middlemen, follow the list above, and you'll save big and get the best quality for an honest dollar. Much luck !
