My problem with kids playing Fortnite with a headset is that we couldn't hear their conversations, possibly with complete strangers. This mic worked flawlessly with the splitter. I just hooked up some PC speakers I wasn't using to a splitter (USB powering speakers connected to the switcher). Now they can talk to their friends and we can make sure they are not exposed to internet geeks. You only need to keep the mic about 3 feet from the speakers to avoid feedback.
