Review on Scottish Knits: Enhancing Colorwork and Cables with a Twist by Carla Anderson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Colored trims and Celtic cords What don't you like?

I just received this beautiful book and have not knitted anything yet. But I know this will soon be my first project! There are 24 schemes in this book, in color, texture, wires and lace. With the exception of one lace-trimmed jacket, the colorways are definitely not muted, but infused with surprisingly unexpected combinations of colors and patterns. And to further entertain the eye, many stunning photographs of the diverse landscapes of Scotland and its surroundings are scattered throughout the book. My only complaint about this book, and a major one, is that while there is a chart for textured plaids and charts for all colored items, there are no charts for other cable or lace projects. In just one project, the tunic, there are five braided panels, and the written instructions are now on three different pages, meaning the knitter has to flip each of those pages back and forth to knit just one row, and that it was just funny Okay, I can take the time to plan out the projects I really want to link to, but why couldn't the editors add timelines for all projects and make the book more user-friendly? Because of this serious flaw, I can only give this book 4 stars, while the design is definitely worth 5. All in all, it's definitely worth every penny and I'm glad I have it in my library.
