❌ Lonovo G27-20-27: Amazing image quality

Lenovo G27-20 27" gaming monitor, FHD (1920 x 1080), IPS, 144Hz, 1ms, FreeSync Premium & NVIDIA G-SYNC compatible, almost borderless, VESA mount, height and tilt adjustable, HDMI, DP, 66C2GCC1US, Black ( ASIN: ‎B08Z5JNL1C)❌ No sharpness adjustment❌ No gamma adjustment❌ No black level adjustment DISCUSSION The Lonovo G27-20-27 is a VERY entry-level gaming monitor.Very basic OSD picture adjustments result in poor picture quality. For example, you won't find any gamma adjustment or black level adjustment. As you would expect from an IPS panel, colors and viewing angles were good but not as good as the best IPS panels I've used and seen. One issue is that the only way to do that Adjusting black is to use game type presets like FPS, MMO, etc. There is no dedicated black level setting. Also, instead of a real gamma setting, you get a "Dark Boost" setting. I think it's n Just a preset gamma that makes blacks lighter. However, presets only increase what looks like gamma. These presets only increase the brightness of dark areas. You can't lower it over the preset settings for every selection, be it sRGB, custom or some other preset. IPS panels suffer from producing the rich blacks that VA panels can, so both black level and gamma adjustments are required. However, you won't find the ether in the Lonovo G27-20-27. Because there's no way to know the gamma or black level, because there's no setting for those settings, it's all guesswork -- preset, love, hate, or leave. The image quality of the Lonovo G27-20-27 is not great for an IPS panel, but it is okay for gaming. You wouldn't want to create graphics on this monitor unless you calibrated it in hardware. Also, it's a bit soft and doesn't have sharpness adjustment. I also found a bug with the OSD. It seems that the OSD does not allow you to exit the main menu when in the "Input Options" area. You have to close it and press one of the buttons to open it again. (See video) Finally, the monitor stand has no side tilt function, so you'd better make sure your desk or floor is level. Otherwise, you need to put cardboard under the monitor stand to align the panel. Lots of manufacturers are talking about it now, so I can't blame Lonovo for jumping on the cost-cutting van. higher endplate. For example, there is no black level, sharpness or gamma adjustment. The panel is IPS, but for an IPS panel the picture quality is not impressive, although decent. It's just not the excellent picture quality we expect from an IPS panel. There is also a bug in the OSD menu (see video). All in all, regardless of the panel type, if you're primarily interested in a 27-inch FHD panel, you might be better off in the price range for a good gaming monitor.

Pros
  • anti-reflective coating
Cons
  • The monitor connections are too difficult to reach.
