I've been using this car cup holder for a few weeks now and it's by far the best smartphone holder I've ever used! The concept is so simple, so genius, and I no longer have suction cup marks on my windshield! My wife is delighted. When your smartphone is attached to the cradle mounted in one of your car's cup holder slots on the console (most cars have two, so you still have a free hot coffee cup holder!), it brings the smartphone closer to the driver or passenger for easy control phone if required. Also, and this is my favorite, your precious smartphone is not near the window and therefore not under the direct rays of the hot sun hitting the window! This way your phone won't overheat like mine did a few times when using the window suction cup. Likewise, your phone won't get hot or cold like mounts that attach to air conditioner/heater vents. Likewise, the phone does not block the air coming out of the vents! Finally, the phone doesn't block your car's status screen if your car has it in the middle of the underside of the dashboard like mine did, by using a bracket that fits into the CD player slot. not easier. By turning the black ring at the top of the base, you can widen the parts coming out of the base to fit snugly in your car's cup holder. The smartphone holder is the part that actually holds your phone and is suitable for smartphones and small tablets of all sizes. This element is then attached to a flexible/adjustable gooseneck in the base unit. There are four contact points. The flanges on the gooseneck plate fit into the holes on the back of the holder and should snap into place as the holder is pushed down. The holder fits snugly on the gooseneck plate, but I couldn't get it to snap into place. I like it though as it makes it easier to remove the phone and cradle from the flexible neck rest if you want to hold the phone in your hand (and you're not driving!). Even with no-snap attachment, the phone and mount are securely connected. They don't rattle and the folder doesn't fall, unless of course you knock it over with a quick movement of your hand. You will not regret the purchase!
