Great tool that serves its purpose. Design Flaws

Ultimately, this tool helped save my kitchen cabinets from a ridiculously powerful 10-foot childproof lock. Using a hair dryer in addition to this tool helped remove them after being stuck for over 15 months. However, there is a design issue that I don't understand. Why create a hole that creates a weak point that when force is applied will bend the entire tool. I'm not sure if this decision was made to save on materials or console support, but both tools failed in the same place.
