unreliable readers. Often does not open doors.

These readers are very spirited. Often the door will not unlock. Users find them a little more secure when they pull the card out of the lanyard holder and press it firmly against the reader for 1-2 seconds, but even then they are unreliable. If the reader doesn't let you in, no matter how many times you try to open that door, it will get stuck in the locking loop. In this case, switching to another entrance seems to be the only way to get in. Our IT team reviews the logs and tells you that you were granted access, although the scan did not open the door. These issues do not apply to specific doors or types of doors. Our IT department reports that the vendor has only vague feedback that doesn't help with troubleshooting, and is usually slow to respond or ignores issues as user error. The only user feedback on the reader itself is the LED, which is flashing many different colors very quickly. Because of the speed it's very hard to tell what colors were displayed, so it's impossible to tell what's going on or if there's any point in blinking. The tones are all the same whether the user passed the verification or not, so it's useless. The only thing better than our previous system is the keys on devices with a keyboard. The buttons on this device are NOT made of soft silicone, so users have no problem believing they've pressed the button if they simply press it from the side without touching the circuit board underneath.
