Review on FEELWORLD Monitor Waveform External 1920X1200 by Andy Hearshman

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Good field monitor but too weak for this price, only around 500 nits

Comes with a full size HDMI to mini HDMI cable In the case of my GH5S you will need another HDMI cable, which is what I used in the photos in this review. On the back of the monitor, the second battery compartment has been removed and replaced with an NP-F connector. That means you can mount and power devices like a wireless video transmitter or LED light. Be aware that you're draining the battery quickly when powering something like a wireless video transmitter, so I wouldn't use anything other than a full-size NP-F970 battery. You've gotten rid of the normal hand. to mount in most of their field monitors in favor of a small cold shoe tile mount. The mounting hole remains, but a more traditional mount was chosen instead. The only problem here is that the included bracket doesn't have the ARRI-style mounting holes that prevent the monitor from rotating. I have to say that the screw used to attach your camera's cold show mount is good. It's very easy to grab to get a nice tight connection. .They also added a USB-C port that can be used to power the monitor. I could be wrong, but I believe this could be the first Feelworld field monitor that can be powered from a USB-C port. These are the main differences between this particular field monitor and others on the market. This field monitor has a screen brightness of approximately 500 nits. So if you intend to use it outdoors, you definitely need the sun visor that comes with it. Maybe it's just me. But I just don't think you can ask more than $200 for a field monitor with just 500 nits of brightness, even with the dummy built-in battery and the other small differences I mentioned earlier. Recommendation for a Feelworld field monitor and you need this dummy NP-F battery slot. It would be better to spend about $50 extra and get the Feelworld Lut7 Pro. It's essentially the same monitor, but with a screen brightness of 2200 nits. If you don't want the NP-F dummy battery, for an additional $30 and a 2200 nit screen, the Feelworld Lut7 is a much better choice. Note that these 2 monitors do not have a USB-C power connector and use mounting brackets instead of the small field monitor mount that comes with the F7 Pro.

Pros
  • Perfect for director and camera assistant
Cons
  • Not sure

(-0.5) Usable, but dim for some situation at this price point.
