The JBL Live PRO+ headphones pack a lot of features into a small package. For best results, you'll need to install an additional app on your phone, which isn't ideal, but gives you a lot more control over the software's features and controls. I wanted to replace my wired Bluetooth headphones that I used for hands-free calls and music with something more professional and with noise canceling. They look sharp but don't sound spectacular. My guess is that most of the price comes from programming the features built into it. Touch control, multiple noise reduction modes, built-in electronic test mode and ambient air pass mode. Since the features seem to be the highlight of this set, I'll take a quick look at each one below. Touch control - the left ear controls sound mode and the right ear controls playback. After a little practice, touch controls become very convenient and understandable. This will continue until you move and put the earbud back in. The sensitivity of the touch controls makes them a nightmare unless you can get them perfectly fitted to your ear (comes with 4 pairs of different sized grommets for custom fitting). Almost all in-ear headphones react to every touch. So putting them back almost always pauses playback, ends a call, or changes the sound mode. They become even more sensitive when you sweat on them, which is why I don't recommend them when exercising. The included sound modes are Standard Play, Noise Reduction, and Ambient Noise Passthrough. The noise-cancelling mode does a reasonable job considering the headphones, but struggles at times with tricky noises that aren't just static sound. When this happens, it almost causes a headache and creates a hum or stutter in an attempt to muffle a sound beyond its capabilities. Because of this, I wouldn't rely on them if noise-cancellation is your primary goal. However, the surrounding pass function works fine. This allows me to wear them and have a conversation without worrying about yelling or missing what the other party is saying. They also improve situational awareness as they can slightly amplify the sounds around you. They work almost like a hearing aid as I can pick up conversations that are usually too far away to hear. The overall sound quality they produce isn't impressive either. Just average compared to other brands I've used. There is almost no base and on other bands they sound flat. Don't buy them if you are a music lover. Battery life is good as it lasts for the commute, most of the workday and back home. The wireless charging station is perfect as I throw it out of my bag onto the puck and forget about it until the next day. When carrying, make sure to have a case with you. Not only for charging when you take them off, but because the touch controls are sensitive enough, they start/stop constantly and interact with your bag when you put them in without a case.
