Review on Get Perfectly Cooked BBQ With DIGITEN'S Thermometer And Stainless Steel Tweezers Set by Marisol Brown

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This thing is really fast

Original review:I can't get over how fast this takes a reading. Within 4 or 5 seconds it is at a stable reading. Compared to 2 older similar food thermometers that take 30 seconds to a minute to reach a reading. I never realized just how annoying it was to wait that long until now. With this you can get a quick temp fast and get back to cooking with minimal down time. I also like how this automatically turns on/off when the probe is opened/closed.There are a few things I don't like though:First, the probe is difficult to open. When closed it clicks under a tab to hold securely. But then to open it there is no good way to pull out the probe without prying it out from the pointy end by your finger nail. Others I have had used a spring loaded button to get the probe opened and ready for a reading. This just seems weird there isn't an easier way to open it.Second, the magnets are pretty weak. I tried sticking this to the side of my refrigerator, oven, and dish washer. On all three this wiggles back and forth and eventually slides down to the floor. I'll be keeping it in the drawer because of it.If it weren't for the insanely fast reading time I don't think I'd keep using this due to the opening issue. The speed outweighs the easy of use factor for me in this case.Update:One negative I had for this was how it was difficult to open. The clip/nub holds the probe tip too tightly in the closed position. Didn't want my hands/finger nails all over the probe tip to open it just before sticking in my food. I wash my hands, but still gross. Was also afraid of getting poked by it since you had to open it right from the pokey part. I used a pair of scissors and trimmed that clip/nub piece off. Then just scraped them back and forth to file that clip off so it doesn't grab the end of the probe. Now this thing is great! I can open it by pulling on the other end from the pokey part keeping my fingers off the tip. The probe has quite a bit of resistance when opening so its not like it will fall open on its own without the clip.
