The Nextstand is one of several laptop stands introduced since the introduction of the Roost stand. The Roost stand offers a pretty awesome design, so it's no wonder others have tried to emulate it. That being said, Nexstand offers a few features that we think set it apart in its own category. The stand folds for easy storage and portability. When folded, it measures 1.5 x 1.5 x 14 inches (3.81 x 3.81 x 35.6 cm), making it easy to store in your bag. It also comes with a carrying case made of stretchy, soft material. While it's really pretty, we were hoping for something more durable. It weighs 8.2 ounces - slightly heavier than other laptop stands but still very portable. When you open it, you will see that Nexstand fits any size laptop. The stand itself is made out of PVC - essentially hard plastic - and looks pretty solid once it's in place. There are some hard rubber latches on the underside that pivot to allow the front of the laptop to be secured. The twist grips are fitted with small plastic spacers to accommodate very thin laptops. While this setup works pretty well, we have two concerns. The knobs are made of this hard rubber material, almost plastic-like, which also means they don't "stick" to the laptop. If you bump into the stand, there is a chance your laptop will fall out. Plastic clips are also a bit of a problem. We try to avoid things with small details - if you lose these clips in the middle of a trip, you're out of luck. That being said, chances are you won't have any of these issues, and at this price point, we're willing to take the risk. But the Nexstand can handle a lot of exercise weights, so that's saying something... Is that true? We don't really understand Nextstand's obsession with scales, but more power for them. The Nextstand really shines when it comes to versatility. The stand offers eight different height settings. Here at Pack Hacker we are always on the move and constantly working from different locations. We've found that you'll almost certainly need to adjust the height of the stand depending on your workspace. Being able to change altitude quickly and easily is a game changer. With all the different settings, you can really customize it and position the stand exactly how you want it. In addition to the amazing versatility, Nexstand also offers another great advantage β the price. At the time of writing this review, the Nextstand is priced at $29.95. Compared to some other stands, this one is very affordable. It might not be the most durable stand, but for the price you really can't beat it.
