Too thick and impenetrable. They are so impermeable that almost no air can penetrate them. (Holding them tightly to your open mouth makes it almost impossible to breathe. I've worn industrial respirators for many years and have grown accustomed to some respiratory impediment, but this filter doesn't fit. A filter that impenetrable forces air around them flow instead of going through them, which actually makes the mask less effective.
