I just started DSLR and needed to get some lenses. I read a number of reviews and settled on the Tamron (I bought a refurbished one and the seller added a 7 year extended warranty). The wide angle is great for some perspective shots and they come out really well. The autofocus can be a bit blurry at times, but I attribute that to my beginner level with my Nikon D5300, and the corners can be a bit soft at the widest focal length, so I'll be careful to shoot at f/8. and adjust my other settings accordingly. Overall, most of my recordings come out great, and for the price, it's great. A quick note: if you're used to the kit lens that came with your Nikon, it's a little heavier than taking your camera off a table or bag.
