The performance in the room was constantly tweaked upwards because of the promise of organic matter removal using activated carbon. Took it for a spin after deciding to give it a shot. We utilized a Xiaomi gas analyzer (it's been around for a while, the gas analyzer is accurate, and it picks up on changes in the air quickly) as our meter. When activated, the air cleaner began routinely filtering particles and dust; HEPA claims were uncontested. However, when it came to organic matter, the cleaner performed well into the yellow, potentially dangerous zone. I opted to hold off for now. Emissions decreased after two hours, but were remained nearly twice as high as the ambient noise level. The analyser was housed within the filter's cylindrical housing. Nothing about the balcony airing helped. Nothing had changed after three days, so I removed the coal layer entirely from the bobbin and replaced it with HEPA. The levels of organics in the room have returned to pre-cleaning levels. Even after being placed in a trash bag, the coal's odor remained. As a whole, I came to the conclusion that the activated carbon was pre-soiled and pre-nourished. The gadget was still in its original manufacturer packaging and sealed with a seal, so maybe I just got lucky with a cheap filter. This led to his discontent. I'll have to sneak a carbon filter onto Alik somehow. The air purifier's particle sensor is quite unreliable. He can detect the aroma of burnt dumplings or a lit match, but not much else. While I stirred the coffee pot and saw the numbers on my gas analyzer bounce between zero and fifty micrograms per cubic meter, the built-in sensor constantly read 1-2 micrograms per cubic meter. Perhaps it is due to poor calibration or positioning, but the readings it provides have no basis in science. The equipment works as intended, moving air slowly through the HEPA filter. Buying is a better option than renting if you have severe allergies to pollen or need expensive repairs. But the coal layer is still a mystery to me.
