I replaced the RG58 cable from my 2m radio with a Tandy RG8 (better than the regular RG8). These connections were easy to install. I had to borrow my dad because the cable is pretty thick and I don't have a soldering station. We used a 100W soldering iron; I would recommend that you tin the copper braid before installing the adapter. Most instructions don't tell you this. This will give you a strong connection during the final soldering. Don't imitate the soldering aspect. This was the first time either of us had used a soldering iron in years and it worked great. I now have full S9+5 silence at the input of most repeaters within a 25-40 mile radius. I lost about 10dBi of gain with RG58 [ERP was 30W out of 65W], now [ERP is 62.5W out of 65W from base to antenna]. It fits perfectly with my Kenwood TM-281A and Comet X30. Excellent work. 100% recommended
