These aren't the first I've bought. I've had it for a few years now and like the permanent mount, the magazine holds up great no matter how bumpy the road the phone stays in place. This purchase was made for my wife's car and ever since she got it she loves it too. My only comment: I had to install it upside down (meaning the little plastic cord lock is facing down) to get the right angle so the phone was facing straight at me with both. The Fords (Explorer and Escape) have an angled area for the base to be glued to, and to overcompensate for that angle you get more movement for the perfect tilt by flipping them.
