Review on High-Sensitivity CCTV Surveillance Microphone 2-Pack for Outdoor Security, DVR Recording, RCA Connectivity, Amplified Pickup, with External Camera Sound by David Bowens

They work well but suffer from wind noise. A windsock helps.

This review does NOT contain a valid complaint about microphones. They work and work well. They last over a year. I would buy them again without hesitation. The first thing you need to do is buy cables to use the microphones with. Some cables may come with connectors for them, but many don't. I've seen BNC cables with three ends. An additional holder is provided for the use of microphones. The cost of additional cables is an additional expected expense. If you want sound you will need to purchase both microphones and the cables needed to send sound to your recorder. Setting up the microphones confused me at first. Then I discovered that it's really easy. Disconnect the power cord from the camera. Connect this power cable to the microphone power jack. Then plug the power end of the microphone into the camera's power port, use a different port if needed, and you're done. It was harder to understand than to install. Why only 4 stars? We can't expect any noise-cancellation at this price point. The microphone can pick up strong wind noise. The solution is to make some kind of windsock that fits over the microphone and serves to reduce or maybe even eliminate wind noise. Not only does this mic lack a windscreen, it also doesn't come as an option at an additional cost. I know adding a wind cover adds a bit to the price. If proposed, it would greatly improve the capabilities of microphones. Since the noise-cancelling windshield is not included in the scope of delivery or is offered as an accessory, I deduct 1 star. If the windproof socks were included or available for an extra charge, I would upgrade to 5 stars.
