perfect for DC41 "animal "

We have the second or third DC41 since it was introduced about 7 or 8 years ago (2011). We've always had pet dogs (labs) and they lose a lot, we literally wear down and replace our Dyson DC41s. Anyone who owns this model knows how good it is for collecting dog hair. I maintain our DC41s by cleaning them about every 6 months, changing the filters every year and occasionally having hose frays or other issues. As soon as the whole car is broken, we get a new one. Very happy with it given the absolute violence we went through. I would buy this model 3 times more expensive. I recently got a "grinding" noise from our DC41. I've narrowed it down to the rotating brush assembly and also the motor/belt area. After removing the hair and other debris and carefully examining it, I found that the strap was stretched. Since it's a toothed/timing belt, I figured maybe a new belt would fix that. After I ordered and received the belt, upon closer inspection I found that the gear/gearbox assembly (the device at the other end of the belt from the engine) was spinning the support bearings in the plastic that supported them, effectively gnawing through that plastic. So I had to do without the belt replacement, because the sloppy installation of the belt was mainly due to the fact that the bearings and thus the shafts were not coaxial and not straight. Irreparable because the supporting plastic is literally gone. So I proceeded to replacing the entire cleaning head assembly. It's literally a 10 second fix. We pull off the red clip holding the suction neck, pull the entire assembly forward, which will result in the disconnection of the electrical connector and support assembly, and install the new head in reverse order. Friction noise is completely and completely eliminated and it lifts hair like it's brand new.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Negative print
