Pain is the butt to install because my couch has slight cushioning on the sides. I tried to find some nylon spacers to place behind the brackets but Home Depot was out of the proper size. I ended up having to stack three 1/4” washers behind each corner screw and screwed the middle hole in on each bracket without a washer to act as a sort of lock washer to prevent the screws from loosening as I had drilled each bracket in multiple times to get the proper thickness of washers. Additionally, because it was near impossible to get the brackets close enough and aligned in order to slide into each, I placed the tongue of each bracket into my workbench clamp and used a rubber mallet to hit the rest of the bracket backwards so that it would bend outward a little to make positioning the brackets together easier. What I did that helped was only screwing in the corners and didn’t add the middle screw until I knew everything was fit just right, that way I had untouched wood to drill the last screw into for each bracket to get a good bite as the others had to be drilled into multiple times while trying to space the brackets correctly w/the washers. What would’ve been even better is to just do two screws on each bracket, in opposing corners, while figuring out all the spacing and then adding 4 screws at the end (for each bracket) after it was all positioned properly. I was tempted to install the brackets sideways so I could just slide the couch into position to interlock the brackets instead of having to lift it up and set it down into the brackets. I think this would’ve worked because we have an issue with our couches sliding away from each other, and not past each other, but I decided not to risk it. If anyone tries please post about it. I would only recommend making sure to place the brackets in the proper orientation so that when you go to sit down on the couch and lay against the back rest that you don’t slide the brackets apart.
