Plastic swivel bases are found in many swivel seats sold today. They are not made to last. However, you can replace them with metal ones, such as if you need a load-bearing pivot plate. It doesn't spin easily when you hold it in your hands, but put some weight on it and then you'll see that it works the way it was designed. The listing says the max load is around 110kg It costs around 240 pounds to play around with. When it's mounted on a turntable, I can just twist the mount and let it slide back and forth without lifting it and risking damage. This type of gear was recommended to me by an amateur friend and it's just the right piece of hardware I needed I found a video online that teaches me how to use it.
