This amp lags noticeably at high volume or when the bass is on. This is a sure sign that the raw power is not enough to drive the headset. Compared to the Schiit Magni the sound quality is terrible, compared to that I can't believe these are the same headphones. No, I'm not talking volume either, at the same volume the Magni has a lot more power and headroom, allowing for extremely deep, fat bass, a wide soundstage and controlled, buttery smooth mids and highs. All these factors sound like cheap headphones with this mobil fosi amplifier. However, if you've never had a decent amp then I think you'll be fine if you want a bit louder than your phone, but don't expect real SQ from the Hifiman 4xx, expect half the power. I'll probably buy a 3 amp portable power bank to pair with the Schiit Heel 2.
