Superbly detailed

2020 Mattel Jurassic World Primal Attack "Attack Pack" Alioramus When Primal Attack was introduced at San Diego Comic-Con in 2019, Alioramus was one of the first new species to be discovered. Ironically, despite its early discovery, Alioramus is one of the most recent releases (as far as we know) of this lineage. Alioramus was a small tyrannosaur from Late Cretaceous Mongolia. Its most distinctive feature is a series of five bony ridges on its snout. Mattel did a brilliant job bringing this look to life. The level of detail is incredible! This figure features some of the most diverse and well defined skins of any Attack Pack model! From tiny bumpy scales on the snout, neck and ribs to larger scales along the back and thighs and even crocodile-like scales on the underside of the body. Perhaps the best details, however, are the feathers that adorn the back of the head and the tufts on the arms and legs. I especially like the feathered area just behind the eyes. That almost makes him a bird of prey. Even the tongue has great texture! The figure's articulations are fairly standard for this line. All limbs can move forward and backward. The tail can turn. The mouth can open very wide and the neck can move up and down with a fairly wide range of motion. The coloring of Alioramus is very beautiful. It's very natural, but still bright without being overly flashy. The main body is dark brown with red stripes on the back and sides. The underside is creamy white. My particular character, however, has a rather unfortunate paint scheme. For some reason the right side of the lower abdomen was not painted with cream paint. This is by no means a common problem, but I had to mention it to avoid confusion. I grabbed a second one and his stomach is normal. As with all Attack Packs, the claws remain unpainted. However, unlike most Attack kits, the paint job continues on most of the rear. The head has the most impressive paint job of any Attack Pack figure! The red markings on the head are expertly done. A darker brown was applied around the eyes to define the eyes. The eyes are bright and almost perfect in their application. The five combs are painted ivory, as are the teeth, and there is not even a hint of sloppiness in their applications. A little shiny paint is also applied to some parts of the face. Not sure why it's there, but it looks good and adds to the character's uniqueness. The Attack Pack Alioramus is a truly standout piece in the Attack range of packs. In fact, I would go as far as to say that this is my new favorite Attack Pack action figure without a doubt. It's easy to see why Mattel chose to highlight this in the original Primal Attack!
