I've been waiting a full year to review this cat house so here it is. Outdoors really thrive during the Wisconsin winter months, but you can't just leave this home outdoors. It should be left under a canopy or some kind of cover so it doesn't get completely soaked when the ground starts to thaw or when it rains heavily. Also, plastic doors in a home are quite sensitive to high-speed winds that can blow in through the door if the home is left outdoors. We left our cat house in the garage and under the porch which is better for this particular cat house. In summer/autumn/winter/spring it remained untouched. I would only advise against placing this cat house in an area protected from the weather as it can get damp if left in the rain for a long period of time. We sprayed it with a water repellent this spring, so that should help. The house has a heated mattress that heats up when our cats are on it and turns off when they aren't. The temperature of the mattress is the same as the cat's body temperature, so it won't overheat the cat. It plugs into a three-prong outlet and doesn't have "wireless" or "battery-powered" power options. All in all a pretty good cat house. Easy to assemble and cats love to sleep in it. It can accommodate 2 medium sized cats but only if they want to share it together.
