Review on Black Zojirushi Stainless Steel Travel Mug - 12 Oz/0.36L by Daniel Bruce

Simple and effective

I have both this version and the flip top version. Both keep the temperature of the contents well; However, this one has fewer parts to keep clean and is easier to clean. If you transport soups in it, also store rather chunky soups in it. While you can also unscrew the flip-top lid, it comes with a mouth-friendly plastic piece that covers the top metal rim of the container. This is a two piece design, if you want to drink from it you have to screw it on at the top. This means that you have to hold (or put somewhere) the lid while drinking. Unlike a hinged lid, you simply open it and the lid stays attached to the container. But then, as for the flip top, I would bang my nose right on the part of the top that covered the hole in the container and since there was always a drop of liquid on it, it always landed on my nose unless I tilt either keep my head wide or suck on the top part (which in itself seemed strange). Definitely back to the two-part product. Its opening is about the size of a flute glass (like champagne), tilting your head back when the other end is resting on your nose. Shake off excess water from the top or it will appear like it will spill, but it's actually not just excess water spilling out the other side of the outside of the lid. If you're not Japanese when it comes to keeping your cup clean, you might be giving it a chance to get sticky and dirty. If you don't abuse it during use, the seals will last long enough to simply buy another mug years later when they wear out. Look for the Zojirushi logo and quality control sticker on the bottom. The inside of the mug is also polished to a high gloss. Do not accept any replacement.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
