Review on TTArtisan Format Aperture Fujifilm Cameras by Edwin Black

Revainrating 5 out of 5

For this price. incredible performance!

I ordered this based on my positive experience with the TTArtisan 17mm f/1.4 that I recently purchased. I already have a great Fujifilm 16mm f/1.4 so wasn't expecting a great lens for 1/8 the price but it's pretty good. So that led me to this lens, again not to replace the amazing Fujifilm 35mm f/1.4 in my arsenal but just for fun. This lens is tiny, less than 17mm, but the looks are the same. Having learned how to focus well with a 17mm lens over the last few weeks, this 35mm lens is lightweight as the viewfinder image is larger and the depth of field is a little shallower so it's very noticeable when out of focus is reached. The zoom on my Fuji cameras really helps, so manual focus is a viable method for general photography. The lens is more than comfortable at f/1.4, it's very good when you're picking subjects for that level of selective focus. . On paper, corners won't come out sharp at the widest aperture, but lower sharpness falls into the out-of-focus range anyway, so this shouldn't be an issue with real-world objects in a 3D environment. Who photographs brick walls with f/1.4? These inexpensive Chinese lenses that perform so well were unthinkable many years ago. But they are there and they work very well. The supplied lid is a quality item (not available from other suppliers) which renders the screw in the lid unusable. You can simply unscrew the cover/cap further and change as needed. Having many lenses I found that the latch on the 52mm cap (mine was removed from the old Nikkor) fits perfectly onto the front of the lens hood and allows the lens hood to remain permanently attached.

Pros
  • Human Eye Perspective 😊 The perspective is close to the human eye, allows realistic photos and is suitable for many types of scenes, such as portraits, landscapes, food, coffee, insects, etc. With this practical lens, you can walk with this practical lens everywhere.
Cons
  • Hard to say
