Review on Phanteks Aluminum Ultimate Computer PH ES813P_SOR by Ken Kowal

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Phenomenal body and beautiful design

Recently, a few weeks ago, I finished my first build and really enjoyed working with this case. Phanteks has been pretty generous with the cable management tools that many companies (if they have them) seem to include as an afterthought. The case is massive and fairly modular, making it easy to pull panels out to install fans, heatsinks, etc. The included PWM hub works great and the LED strip on the edge of the case looks cool. The case looks like something of a futuristic Bladerunner from the 80s. The only downside was that the tank mount that came with it was not drilled for the EK tank. Pretty popular so it's a bit odd that there weren't any holes intended for this. There is a top hole that works, but the bottom bracket needs to be measured and an extra hole drilled. It's okay, but I didn't expect to have to do it. Anyhow, I think the thicker side panels would have helped reduce the noise level a bit, but there is plenty of room behind both side panels to add sound deadening material. if you like, but I don't think it made much of a difference. I had a hard time deciding between this case and the Caselabs SM8 but ended up getting this one because most of the cables and wires were pre-made where like Caselabs I had to find my own solution which probably wouldn't be as good like what Phanteks did. Rear silencer instead of the non-LED version. This is another of those things I didn't expect that are required if you want everything to be nice and fitting. done in the Intel subforum.

Pros
  • Preinstalled cable management tools behind the motherboard tray that can be attached and removed.
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
