Pros* Phenomenal durability here thanks to thick rubbery material on top and bottom (easy to hold on to when wet) and the speaker easily survived my window throw test of about 20 feet without noticeable dents. In terms of waterproofing, I've showered and left this thing on the floor beneath me and it happily kept the music going the entire time. Considering other reviewers who have driven this in cars and completely submerged it I would say this is a very well made product. * Bluetooth range isn't terrible. I've had no trouble connecting through two walls and generally around 25 feet. * The sound quality is acceptable. I would rate it as average for cheap speakers but definitely not the worst. More on that below.* Battery life is pretty good. I haven't turned it off completely yet, but I've been using it at full volume (in a noisy truck) for about 7 hours and haven't had any issues. After that, the charging time did not exceed a couple of hours, which I think is very good. Cons* Dirty sound. I pretty much expected that from small speakers, but they fall short when it comes to clarity of vocals or classical music. It's okay if you mainly listen to rock and hip-hop, but it's a bit annoying that the speakers constantly sound overdriven. My best attempts to correct the sound, included some work with the software EQ (a rough picture of the EQ is attached). While the problems are fairly predictable - the highs are a bit shrill, the lows lack detail but can be heard if the song has enough bass or if you smooth it to death, the mids are pretty flat and boring. Overall, I'd say this speaker sounds like a regular pair of cheap computer speakers with a pillow in front of them.* The cables that come with them are flimsy and flimsy. I doubt either of them will last very long. Luckily it uses a standard micro-USB connector for charging and a 3.5mm input (if you don't want to use Bluetooth) so that's not too much of a problem. * No hole for rope or carabiner. In designing a rugged outdoor speaker with a 1/4" thread for a stand, the manufacturer seemed to understand that people might not have space to put it on the ground. but they overlooked a fairly standard feature. Most small outdoor speakers have a hole in the corner that you can thread a rope or similar through so you can attach it to a climbing backpack, belt or whatever, so it seems like an oversight. I went to the hardware store and bought a matching threaded eyelet to attach my own carabiner to compensate for this, but I have to detach it if I want to put it on a table or whatever with the controls facing up ( because the screw rod is below) . It's not that important to most people, but because of that and the dirty sound I'd only give it 4 stars. Final Verdict I bought this speaker for around $50 and I would say without hesitation it's worth going up to $75. I would definitely buy this speaker again.
