I use feed bags for all my horses and have used them for many years. There is no better way to avoid additive and feed waste. It's also the best way to ensure that the people you want to receive certain foods or supplements are actually getting them. The problem with most feeders is that they don't last long. Cashel poop bags are the worst and don't hold up. There is nothing better than this good old canvas bag. It's affordable and holds up quite well, although I have a mare that gnaws her butt every 3-4 months. At least with canvas, it can be repaired, making it easier to maintain than other brands. But here's a tip. Every food bag starts to smell after regular use. I spray mine with warm water after every few uses and keep it dry every day. Every week I spray them with apple cider vinegar and let them hang for 15-20 minutes before feeding. The horses don't mind apple cider vinegar at all and the couple seem to be really enjoying it. When I follow this routine the bags never give off that bad smell.
