3 yrs later for my opinion
I don't know how often you should change your dog's bed, but this bed still looks great after 3 yrs! I just wash and dry it when it's dirty and it's good as new every time. I can't attest to chewing but my dog would scratch the mattress when I washed the cover and it has held up to her scratches.
