I'm just a leatherworking enthusiast so be sure to get this. After years of tolerating a cheap wing splitter that made legs bend and ruined skin most of the time, I decided to treat myself to a better pair. These CS Osborne dividers are everything I hoped they would be. It's very well made, has a nice comfortable "rise", a good point to lay out, easily adjustable spread and most importantly the legs don't bend when in use. I was a bit concerned about other reviews complaining about the gap between the legs when fully closed. One person said their pair closed no further than 1/4 inch. Another said 7mm, another said 5mm. I just measured my pair and when fully closed the gap is 3mm which is 1/8th of an inch. While just an amateur, I haven't come across a project where I need to hold a tolerance less than 3mm, and 3mm (or 1/8") is where the professional leatherworkers I've seen come across ,claiming the line should be placed from the edge of the leather for stitching.Maybe I was lucky with a good pair or maybe others are unlucky enough to get a bad pair.I am very happy with my pair.I would definitely recommend CS Osborne to anyone Recommend who is looking to upgrade their wing splitters they are a bit heavy for the price (in my opinion) but I think you will be satisfied with the quality I am sure.
