My 80 lb Doberman is now on her second Majestic bed, the first has withstood over 7 years of heavy use and frequent washing. She builds a "nest" with her paws before nesting, and despite her frequent "digging," it has taken years of abuse before she has harmed the fabric. As soon as she made a few small holes I thought they would rip. too bulky in an instant, and it wasn't - the fabric actually resisted further tearing or fraying. I could probably patch the holes on the bottom and use it for many more months. The encased batting has naturally flattened out over the years and I could probably buy some batting again and darn, but it's time for a new bed for her. I still have the original in case I need a backup. I wash the cover once a month on average. Removing and replacing the padded batting is very easy thanks to the large zipped holes in the bottom and side panels. I have also washed the cotton 3 or 4 times in 8 years with no side effects. Highly recommend, I looked through several other beds and styles before coming across this one.
