I ordered unlined Jan & Jul pants (as you can buy lined pants for the colder months) and I love them. My son wears them in the pouring rain that runs through the puddles and comes out dry to the bone in his pants (underneath). On the other hand, his coat (a Carters raincoat) was leaking a bit at the hood attachment on the coat and around the shoulders where the sleeves attach to the coat (just for comparison). Also, before I bought it, I read the reviews and heard that the elastic around the ankles and waist was a bit tight for some kids. My baby is tall and thin. I increased the size to a 5 as he was almost 4 1/2 when we got the pants. That was a mistake on my part. Pants are quite large (waist, hips and length). I should have bought a size 4 even though I lace them up tight. These pants should hold up well (quality) so that he can grow into them and his brother or sister will have plenty of clothes left. Worth the price! :)
