My pair of these shoes are not very stable for lateral movements. My foot hits the side of the fabric and then wants to fall off the sole. My martial arts balance is noticeably better barefoot so I stopped using them for martial arts. Maybe my shoes are too big (I ordered the same size as the US shoes, but the foot size may indicate a slightly smaller size). UPDATE: My new pair appears to be suitable for martial arts. The shoes appear to be something different from my old pair (the shoe tag is in Chinese for one but the shape looks different). But it can also have something to do with the change in the training area. My current surface (polished/painted concrete) has relatively little friction, while my old surface (dojo wood floor - but you can practice there) had significantly more friction. On the other hand, maybe my balance has improved.
