I have an on air ad outside my home office that lets my family know when I'm in a meeting and can't be bothered. This light came with a push of a button to turn it on and off, but since it was a single button I could never remember if I turned it on or off at any particular time. So I resigned at some points and was then interrupted at meetings. This switch only added a few inches to the cable, but completely solved the problem. I now know when the light is on or off at any given time because of the actual style of the switch. I mounted mine horizontally on a laptop dock using a couple of squares of adhesive tape, but any convenient location would do. I've been using it for a few months now with no problems. And since it's USB, I just plugged it straight into my spare slot on the dock and didn't have to power it.
