This is absolutely and overwhelmingly amazing. I fell in love with them after the first use. To put it bluntly, like a straight pen for fine liners, they just can't compete with Copic's multiliners. Comparing only the black pen, it cannot give the same strong and intense black line as Copic. Also, it's water soluble, so of course there can't be a reliable outline if you plan to work on wet media, including markers. In fact, even applying colored pencils will stretch the ink a bit. If you want a permanent black line that is impervious to any solvent you can think of for contouring, use Copic. But the solubility makes this product amazing. They dissolve really well. In fact, these things can work just like watercolor pencils. If you apply the lines very lightly, you can dissolve pretty much anything, creating a thin, smooth and thin layer of paint. If you use heavier lines or denser crosshatches, the lines won't wash out completely, but you can still get intense, saturated colors. Of course, the natural style created by these pens is still pen, ink, and wash, but you can achieve an almost watercolor-like look if you work carefully, all the way down to a straight pen and ink look, and everything in between. The other amazing thing is that because of the solubility, you can definitely mix colors well. Make a layer of hatch yellow and another layer blue and apply water, you get green. Not all pens are equally soluble. The worst in terms of solubility, in my opinion, are the light ones: orange, pink, and purple seem to be the worst. However, if you apply very thin lines with light strokes, even the most stubborn lines will dissolve. They can also be used almost like watercolor cakes. Make a blob of color on a piece of note paper, use a wet brush to blend and just use the brush to pick up the colors from the note paper. This allows you to get very soft tones. This is real watercolor ink in the form of a pen. Super portable, offers great control, no clutter overall, easy to carry, great for both quick sketches and more complicated work (though admittedly I haven't tried anything overly complicated yet) and they're really easy to do what I want to do. I hope everyone picks this up and creates great art! A few examples of what these pens are capable of; as well as a color chart and some mixing examples.
