Old habits never die. I work from home as a seamstress and do a craft show at least once a month. I sewed on my trusty old Singer 247 for several hours a day until I had to adjust the time. I have used this machine for the last 20 years and have been very adamant about giving it up. I do not say, that I will not fix my original that my grandma gave me on Christmas morning when I was 11 because I certainly will and eventually teach my daughter how to sew on it like I did. I decided to finally move on to something nicer as my business keeps growing. I don't know how I sewed without this machine for so long. This is a workhorse and a half. I chose this model based on the durable description as I sew for hours a day. Other reviews have complained a bit about the noise, but it's whisper quiet compared to my old tank. I like the clear window on the spool so I can keep track of my yarn. The LED lighting is also very nice and the seam allowances are stamped on the plate. As you can imagine I'm used to sewing on a very old machine so all these little upgrades are very important to me. I haven't sat down to figure out the automatic needle threader yet as I was so excited to be working on this thing. The loop option is easy to use and allows you to create beautiful loops. I look forward to exploring different embroidery options. My only regret is that I no longer pay attention to the differences between the models. I probably would have bought the 4452 to have the extra accessories and feet in that pack and now I have most of these on my wish list to get for Christmas. I am very happy with this machine and would recommend it to any seamstress looking for a good reliable machine. I call it my 247 from the future. Feel free to buy this car!
