Works well so far, but ONLY for HDMI 2.0+ (extra [and long] note below). The problem seems to be that it's not backwards compatible at all with only HDMI 1 computer hardware.X Bought this to help my brother combine the outputs of multiple devices on a very HD display, but now that he has one , simple additional speakers new monitor (no speakers as implied) and puts together a desktop. Devices that automatically attempt to route audio through the HDMI channels - his consoles - (or those with dedicated channels, say RCA combined with HDMI - his GameCube) work fine because they essentially look to /dev/audio or output bust - ignoring the fact that /dev/audio can be /dev/null. --- However, none of the tested laptops work with it, since there are cheaper boards with only HDMI 1.4 or less. Tested on both Windows 10 laptops and Debian GNU+Linux laptops. However, I tested it on my RX 580 (running Debian) and it works. Since my brother has a card of the same lineage, he will also have 2.0+ support on desktop. However, his laptop is not good (as are my father's and sister's laptops). --- TL;DR: If you DO NOT have HDMI 2.0+, you NEED an additional adapter unless it's a console and/or you're just randomly trying to send audio over the HDMI channels. (Or, in the case of his GameCube, if the device doesn't have HDMI, but you force the audio-only and video-only channels to be matched into one (RCA to HDMI in this case))
