This lens hood looks very nice but has a major design flaw. The spring mechanisms (two small pieces of plastic) are so hard and tight that I would have to use tremendous force to twist the hood into place. This puts a lot of wear and tear on the aperture mount on the front of the lens. There may also be internal damage to the lens from twisting the front side excessively. The lens is all plastic, EF-S 18-55 IS STM, and I don't want to risk damaging it. I disassembled the small spring mechanisms, cut and sanded a bit so that the hood is easy to put on now. I chose this because it costs a lot less than the official Canon. But I don't recommend this course of action, and if I had to do it again I would return it rather than try to change it. Lucky and it might work well for you.
