Works great in 2012 13 " MacBook Air 5.2 A1466

I was torn between buying a new MacBook Air or trying to upgrade my 2012 MBA (13" A1466) After something more Bringing life to life, as Apple announced they would be making their own processors this year, that was enough to allow me to wait until next year to upgrade to a newer model. But I'm still stuck with a factory 256GB -SSD module fixed. actually works with a 2012 model, I've paired this adapter with a Crucial MC500 M.2 1TB card. It doesn't seem to affect transfer speeds (I'm getting 430MB/s writing and 500MB/s reading FileVault in Catalina). The main downside is that after a fresh install of macOS I found that initial indexing was causing it to overheat (fan on max when indexing faces in Photos app). Also, over the course of a few weeks it was decided that my battery needed service. , although I only have 540 cycles. It all comes with a new SSD and adapter, but the timing is interesting to say the least. After all that, however, I'm happy to have an updated SSD and a machine that runs reasonably well even though it's 8 years old.

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good, but not great
