Better than the standard GM crescent tool
. I highly recommend it over the default crescent moon tool. It closes the timing chain gap, preventing bolts from getting in there, and if you've never done a water pump repair before, it's very easy to drop it given the cramped workspace. I can say with confidence that without this tool I most likely would have dropped a bolt in the timing chain compartment. So this tool worked great for a handyman like me.
- Secure the water pump sprocket with the water pump sprocket retainer to prevent engine vibration and squeaks and to hold the timing chain in place to avoid re-adjusting the camshaft
