Better than the standard GM crescent tool

. I highly recommend it over the default crescent moon tool. It closes the timing chain gap, preventing bolts from getting in there, and if you've never done a water pump repair before, it's very easy to drop it given the cramped workspace. I can say with confidence that without this tool I most likely would have dropped a bolt in the timing chain compartment. So this tool worked great for a handyman like me.

Pros

Secure the water pump sprocket with the water pump sprocket retainer to prevent engine vibration and squeaks and to hold the timing chain in place to avoid re-adjusting the camshaft
