While this light does emit heat, it's not too much that it burns the leaves of our plants. The light that it gives off does depend on how high or low you turn on this. I've owned several grow lights but the lights I've owned in the past would only go to one level and there was no way of dimming this or making it go higher. With this light, I'm able to do this with ease. Not to mention, this is not a cheap grow light. This really is a heavy duty light that does have a cooling fan because this light can get a little warm, especially if it's left on for several days at a time. The cords it comes with to hang are not cheap either. We ended up using the metal cord as it worked a lot better for us where we chose to hang it. Even with the little moisture that it gets, there's not rust anywhere on this light or the cord. The light is really easy to use and while it's hard to tell in the pictures, I did a low and a high picture. Great grow light and my plants and seedlings are flourishing a lot better than they were doing before using this light.
